Connecting the Comet at Oakdale Road

To celebrate the recent acquisition by the State of Georgia of the Silver Comet rail crossing at Oakdale Road, Connect the Comet will have an information table at Cobb County's Shoupade Park located 2 blocks from the trail alignment from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. on Saturday, Sept 29. This activity is concurrent with The River Line Historic Area's volunteer maintenance management of the park.
Celebrate and clip weeds at the same time!

Streets Alive! https://www.atlantastreetsalive.com/2018_routesWe are spreading the good news about the September 9, 2018, State of Georgia agreement with CSX Railroad that will result in extending the Silver Comet Trail 2.3 miles in Cobb County to Plant Atkinson Road. Connect the Comet will have a display table at the Streets Alive event, Sept 30 from 2pm to 6pm. Streets Alive will open Peachtree Street to pedestrians from South Downtown Atlanta to Midtown. You can volunteer to help us educate the public about extending the Silver Comet Trail to Atlanta's BeltLine at Streets Alive by contacting our event coordinator, Alan Stewart, at firstname.lastname@example.org
Connect the Comet Citizen Meeting & Celebration

The Silver Comet Trail is unfinished, but thanks to our relentless Connect the Comet citizen advocacy, PATH Foundation, the State of Georgia, CSX Railroad and others, the State announced an agreement signed Sept 7, 2018 which includes acquisition of 2.3 more miles of Silver Comet railway that will be used to extend the existing Silver Comet Trail to Plant Atkinson Road in Cobb County.
Join us in celebrating this long-awaited Silver Comet Trail victory at our next citizen meeting on October 28. We hope to have a guest speaker who will provide more information. Keep informed by joining the "Connect the Comet" Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/ConnectTheComet/
